
While the directions, angles and pressure of the scratching define the volume of the surface that will come out from under the black background, I realized that just as in my own technique, the linear work makes the surface look more sterile and flatter than it actually is. That’s why, in my next work, I tried to create textures with the weight of my hand, sometimes with short and hard strokes, sometimes with long, light strokes to add texture to the underlying surfaces, rather than just giving volume to them with straight lines.
