Watercolor is one the ideal methods for representation of flow and movement by nature and it helped us a lot in this particular work. On top of being dynamic scenes by themselves, the references were sections of timelapsed storm recordings which caused a harder composition and required some unexpected adjustments on the drawing. During these adjustments I realized watercolor can be diluted and reworked for a long time after being put on paper; unlike pen and pencil drawing where we have to cover and add layers in order to rework the drawing.

One downside of this technique for me was the difficulty of blending and making gradients; because I had to be very careful with the amount of water opposed to pencil drawing where hand pressure is enough for these.
